Course Location and Logistics
The course will be
held at the Tropicana Hotel, which is located on The Strip
at the corner of Las Vegas Blvd. and Tropicana Ave. across from the
MGM Grand, Excalibur and New York, New York. You can see the
location of the Tropicana at http://www.tropicanalv.com/location.asp.
The course will be held from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM each day. Please be on
time (we will learn about the Scrum tradition of paying a dollar for
being late ;-). You must attend the entire course in order to receive
Travel and Accommodations
If you have not yet booked your travel arrangements, you should do so
immediately. We recommend that you arrive on Wednesday, February 15, to give
yourself adequate rest and ensure that you will attend the entire course.
If you plan to depart on Friday, please book your flight so that you can
remain for the full course duration.
Air travel goes through McCarran International Airport (LAS). Most major
airlines fly into Las Vegas, including many international flights. Both
America West and Southwest Airlines use Las Vegas as a hub and both offer
reasonable airfares from most US locations.
There are many shuttles that run on 5-10 minute intervals from the
airport to the hotels on The Strip for about $7 per person. Since all
the major hotels are within walking distance of the each other, and
everything else is a short taxi ride away, you probably won't even need a
rental car (also keep in mind the hotels will charge for parking).
You are not required to stay at the Tropicana, however they
offer some of the better rates on The Strip starting at $46
per night on Wednesday, February 15, and Thursday, February
16. As with all Las Vegas hotels, the weekend rates are
higher, so if you plan to stay on Friday night expect a rate
of around $120. As of Wednesday, February 1, there are
rooms available for all nights.
To book a room at the Tropicana:
- Go to http://www.tropicanalv.com/.
- In the upper part of the page, there are entry fields for the
date, nights and occupants. Select February 15, 2006 for the
date, 2 or 3 nights and the appropriate number of people.
Click Go and wait for the Rates & Availability page to come
- The Rates & Availability page comes up next. The first boxed
item in the list is "Garden Area Standard". The price should
be listed as $45.95 per night for Wednesday and Thursday, and
$119.95 for Friday.
- You can book the room right there on the web site.
Many other hotels on or near The Strip
offer reasonable room rates starting around $70 per night,
and many seem to have availability for February 15 to 18.
Please note that weekend rates are typically higher, so if
you plan to stay past Friday you should expect higher rates.
Course Fees and Payments
The cost of the course is USD $1,200. You are responsible for your
travel arrangements and expenses. To complete your registration, we
require pre-payment of the course fee. We must receive your payment by
February 7th. Once we have received your payment, your course registration

contact your accounts payable department to arrange to have a check ready
as soon as possible. If your company requires additional
information from Agile Logic in order to process a company check, please

prior to the class. In some cases, your company must set up Agile Logic

Prior to the course, we recommend that you at least skim through the two
Scrum texts, "Agile Software Development with Scrum" by Ken Schwaber and
Mike Beedle, and "Agile Project Management with Scrum" by Ken Schwaber.
